Working together for a safer industry.

We all know how dangerous construction work can be. That’s why we at Volvo stress safety – with our machinery and in our stores.  But I saw a piece of good news recently that I would like to share with you.

The preliminary findings of the National Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries in 2009 from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics show that fatal injuries in the private construction sector declined by 16 percent.  This is following the decline of 19 percent in 2008. According to the report, “With this decrease, private construction fatalities are down by more than a third since reaching a series high in 2006.”   The report added that, “Fatal injuries involving workers in the construction of buildings were down 27 percent from 2008, with most of the decrease occurring in nonresidential building construction (down 44 percent to 55 cases).”
