When renting a wet vacuum it is important to know its limitations. They can be used on substances other than water, but it depends on the type of filtration system being used. Some wet vacs are designed only for fluid pickup. Using them for dry pickup, dust or dirt, would only cause a lot of that material to be sent back out after vacuuming it up. However, most wet/dry vacuums will handle either dry or wet areas.

Choosing between a dust vacuum rental and a dry vacuum is an important decision when cleaning a worksite. 
 
Dust collectors/vacuums are designed specifically to handle large quantities of dust and particulate matter that a standard dry vacuum would not be able to handle.
