Knuckle Lifts

Knuckle Lifts Rentals

A knuckle boom is designed with at least two hinged-boom sections. Often, the phrase ‘knuckle’ boom is used in relation to cranes or lifts. Articulating booms, sometimes referred to as ‘knuckle booms,' allow for unhinging at certain points to make reaching higher elevations possible. These booms offer a range of movement, superior that of limited motion lifts. Knuckle boom lifts typically operate under the power of electric motors or internal combustion engines.

Knuckle boom lifts are used in applications that require reaching over and above machinery or pieces of equipment. They are also used in accessing elevations that would be difficult to reach using any other styles of booms lifts like straight or telescopic boom lift. These lifts are capable of rotating 360° and are often used for industrial applications due to their versatility. Knuckle boom lifts are designed to drive while at a full elevation. Their narrow body and design allow them to be maneuvered easily though aisles and crowed work areas. Knuckle boom lifts allow the operator to maneuver the boom in any direction from the work platform, without lowering the basket.

Before using the equipment, it is critical to inspect it properly, so that there are no cracked welds in order to avoid possible accidents. In case you find any problems, it is always advisable to take the help of a trained professional to fix it. Never attempt to service the equipment without first contacting a Volvo Rents service technician. Always place the boom lift platform on a level place for safe operation. Similarly, also position it in a way that there are no overhead obstructions that may hinder your work flow. Take extra caution while working near power lines to avoid any mishaps and always stick to the instructions that are defined in the operator’s manual while in use. Articulating Boom Manufacturers include JLG, Genie and NiftyLift.

Expert Advice

It’s hard to believe with the weather still plunging in many parts of the United States, but spring is on the way and for many trees – it’s almost time to begin pruning.  The best time to prune a tree is late winter, when a tree is still dormant. Trees get pruned for cosmetic and safety reasons. Depending on exactly what you are looking to do to your trees, you may consider hiring experts for the job.  A licensed arborist is experienced at removing full sized limbs safely and correctly. If you’re doing it yourself, and you’re not an experienced tree climber, or if the tree is extremely large – the first thing to do is rent a lift.  A 30’ lift that is towed behind a truck or a self propelled boom lift with heights from 40-60 feet should do the job getting you to the...   Not a problem. You can use an electric man lift or an electric scissor lift – depending on your needs. An electric man lift is portable and compact. You won’t have a problem getting it through a standard doorway and its got a small footprint. You can also use an electric scissor lift for indoor work. It’s a bigger piece of equipment but you’ll have the ability to fit more than one person and even some decorations because the scissor lift gives you a larger platform or work area. Check with your local Volvo Rents expert at any one of our national locations. Bring the measurements of the facility’s doorways and let them know what height you need to reach. They can help you decide what lift can best meet your needs. Then go ahead – deck those halls! Read More
