Construction Challenge is a joint effort by The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), presenting-sponsor Volvo Construction Equipment and Destination ImagiNation (DI), who are working together to provide participants a real-world experience that will inspire them to explore and pursue careers in the construction industry.
Construction Challenge is different than any other event because it is directly connected to an industry actively looking for talented and motivated employees for a wide range of careers, it is developing the workforce of the future and it is directly tied to educational standards.
This one-day event will be held at 8 Regional Rally locations. The competition only requires 6-8 hours of advance work and it is designed for teams of 5 to 7 students plus an adult Team Manager (21 or older).
The Regional Rally day is structured around two Challenges:
Transportation Infrastructure: Teams will solve problems connected to the transportation infrastructure issues, focusing on how it impacts our quality of life.
Water Infrastructure: Teams will design equipment based on criteria and reproducibility in manufacturing.
On January 15, 2011, Regional Rallies will be held at 9 sites across the U.S. and Canada:
